January - April

The beginning of the year is the wet season in French Polynesia with rainfall occurring often until April. The rain is not consistent but more tropical afternoon thunderstorms that give way to bring sunshine. This can be a quieter time to visit the tropical island when hotels are less crowded and competitive rates are offered. January can be a busier month after many travelers visit during the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Events and Festivals

-The Chinese New Year is celebrated in either January or February depending on the year with parades, dancing, and music. The Ori Tahiti Festival takes place in April with a theme of traditional Polynesian dance.
